Brandyn is widely acclaimed as one of the country’s most authentic vintage entertainers. He has notably appeared on the BBC’s Len Goodman’s Dance Band Days, and numerous BBC radio programmes, re-enacting one of the greatest crooners of the period - Al Bowlly.
Brandyn will be performing many of Al’s greatest hits over the weekend, accompanied by his pianist Jon Butterfield, as well as celebrating other crooners and dance bands of the time.
Brandyn takes you on a trip down memory lane with his authentic recreation of an early 1940’s radio broadcast, and the birth of popular music. There are a few funny surprises, as Brandyn announces the original period adverts and listeners’ replies to the weekly competitions.
On Saturday Night, he will be leading ‘His Radio Rhythm Makers’ dance band at the National Golf Centre, transporting you back to a time when dance halls would be filled with hits by Roy Fox, Lew Stone, Henry Hall, Harry Roy and many more. With vocal tributes to Al Bowlly, Val Rosing, J. Pat O'Malley, Sam Browne and even the novelty vocals of Harry Roy. Watch out for a few cheeky numbers along the way!
